Portal Content Coordinator
One (1) Year Term Assignment

Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week
ESP Level 9: $69,518 to $88,120

Reporting to the Manager of Communications and Public Relations, the Portal Content Coordinator will work with administrative departments to create and develop content for the OCDSB staff portal site. You will work closely with Superintendents, Managers, System Administrators, Communications Advisors, Webmaster and administrative departments to build content pages, develop a content calendar built around key dates in the school year, and provide/share timely information including initiatives and district events to staff and stakeholders. In addition to developing and executing content strategies, you will monitor the design and use of departmental staff portal web pages to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality of posted information. This position will provide other administrative tasks, including writing content for other projects as required of the position.

  • Qualifications
    A Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Public Administration, Communications, Marketing or a related field, and 2 to 3 years relevant experience; An equivalent combination of experience and education may also be considered.
  • Experience in writing and editing content is required, including website creation and maintenance, and online editorial project management experience.
  • Experience working with a range of communications resources, specific to web and social media, including associated systems for Web Content Management.
  • Knowledge of editorial principles, practices and techniques, as well as knowledge of publication production processes and methods predominantly for electronic dissemination.
  • Knowledge of school board operations and structure is an asset.
  • Ability to create and publish fresh and engaging content in both long form and for social media, the ability to create a content calendar and meet established deadlines;
  • Ability to use web and e-marketing metrics to assess effectiveness and make adjustments as necessary.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail; proofreading skills, and has the ability to research and organize information.
  • Proven team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency using computer graphics software (eg. Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) considered an asset.
