The purpose of this role is to support Lunella Biotech’s mission in discovering anti-ageing and anti-cancer therapeutics.

This position will involve the screening and discovery of drugs that target the metabolic phenotype of senescent cells and cancer stem cells across multiple cancer types.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • To engage with Lunella’s mission to fight ageing and cancer by developing novel therapeutic strategies
  • To develop research objectives in connection with the project outlined above and in agreement with the laboratory heads
  • To perform experiments in the laboratory to test hypotheses regarding ageing and cancer
  • To write up draft reports for manuscript publication and patent evaluation
  • To present data as required during lab meetings and conferences
  • To assist in the supervision of graduate students and staff
  • To collaborate with members within and outside of the laboratory
  • To comply with Health and Safety regulations
  • To promote equality and diversity and sustain an inclusive and supportive work environment
  • This role detail guides the work you will initially be required to undertake.  It may be changed from time to time to meet changing circumstances.

Qualifications

  • Completed PhD in related biological/ pharmaceutical sciences
  • Publication record in peer-reviewed journals
  • Language English

Background & Experience

At least 5+ Years Experience working as a scientist

Essential criteria

  • Experience in flow cytometry/FACS analysis
  • Experience and a track record in working with and developing a variety of techniques
  • Experience in aseptic techniques for cell culture
  • Experience in recording, analyzing and interpreting data

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in the generation of stable cell lines using transfection methods
  • Experience in assays measuring metabolic parameters of cellular models
  • Experience in cell migration and invasion assays
  • Experience in the co-culture of multiple cell types
  • Experience in confocal or fluorescent microscopy
  • Experience in proteomics
  • Experience in high throughput screening or automatization techniques

Skills & Competencies

Essential criteria

  • Ability to work independently within an agreed framework
  • Excellent communication skills on paper and verbally, including good IT skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Proven ability to follow directions
  • Ability and willingness to learn new analytical methods and skills

Desirable criteria

  • Good organizational skills
  • To guide other staff on their own specialist area
  • Experience in writing papers and scientific reports

Additional Information

Wage: Salary range: $104,500-$120,175. Salary commensurate with experience.
