Key activities:
***This posting is ONLY for youth positions as part of the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program. Only applicants who meet the following criteria for CSJ, as set out by the Government of Canada (Employment and Social Development Canada), are eligible to be considered. Applicants who do not meet the criteria and who do not submit the requested mandatory application documents listed in the below section “Who can Apply” will NOT be considered.
• Under the supervision of the Camp Director help present a minimum of six weekly creative-based day camp programs for children aged 5 to 11 years old in both French and English. There will be 12 to 20 children participating per class;
• Engage with artists that perform or participate in the camps if required,
• Positively motivate the children to be engaged, excited, and creative each day of the camp.

Required qualifications:
• Minimum one (1) year experience working with children in a creative and/or educational setting required such as summer camp, sports or arts lessons and coaching, or caring for children;
• Proven interest in creative or artistic education or activities is an asset;
• Superior attention to details;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal);
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently;
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with multiple stakeholders;
• Bilingual in both official languages is required;
• Hold valid CPR and First Aid certifications on the first day of camp;
• Clear Criminal Reference Check for Vulnerable Sector on the first day of camp.

Who can apply:
• Must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
• Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
• have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
• Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents who identify as women, Indigenous, Black, Persons of Colour (IBPoC), persons from 2SLGBTQ+ communities and persons with disabilities.

**International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.
