***This posting is ONLY for youth positions as part of the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program. Only applicants who meet the following criteria for CSJ, as set out by the Government of Canada (Employment and Social Development Canada), are eligible to be considered. Applicants who do not meet the criteria and who do not submit the requested mandatory application documents listed in the below section “Who can Apply” will NOT be considered.

Over the course of the summer, this position will work closely with the Archivist-Curator and the Information Management team to advance the digitization and cataloguing of the NAC’s archives collection.

The position will consist of the following activities:
• Enter metadata related to NAC house programs into the collection management tool;
• Review and correct metadata;
• Conduct research inquiries;
• Participate in staff meetings;
• Assist with the organization of on-site materials;
• Assist with other information management activities as required.

Required qualifications:
• High school diploma;
• University-level course work in History, Music, English, Theatre, or related discipline or college-level course work in Museum Studies;
• Excellent attention to detail;
• Experience with collection management tools an asset;
• Experience with JSTOR Forum and Adobe Pro is a strong asset;
• English required; ability to read French is a strong asset.

Who can apply:
• Must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
• Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
• have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
• Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents who identify as women, Indigenous, Black, Persons of Colour (IBPoC), persons from 2SLGBTQ+ communities and persons with disabilities.

**International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.
