COVID-19 Pandemic


The incumbent may be required to work remotely either full-time or in a hybrid fashion until the end of the pandemic.  All necessary working tools needed to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of this position will be provided to the employee for this purpose.


Resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, to ensure the safety of all NAC employees, and in keeping with Ottawa Public Health (OPH) guidelines, it is recommended that while working from the NAC employees should wear masks. Whether individuals decide to wear a mask or not, we thank you for being respectful of others’ choices. Additionally, it is recommended to follow OPH guidelines on workplace preventive practices, (such as distancing, masking when distancing is not possible, ventilation, cleaning, workplace testing, and screening programs) to help prevent transmission.


On occasion, the NAC may impose the wearing of masks and the enforcement of rapid testing should it be deemed reasonable and necessary to do so.


Due to the nature of the position, you will be required to report into the National Arts Centre (NAC) building full-time, effective your first date of employment.

Key activities:


Under the direction of the Manager of Security Services, the Evening Facilities Supervisor will be responsible of a group of security officers who work around the clock to secure the building, including health and safety measures and emergencies that may arise.


Required qualifications:


·         College diploma in Police Foundations, Business Administration;

·         Minimum of five (5) years of directly related experience in a similar position with supervisory duties;

·         Fluently bilingual in both official languages;

·         Experience in a unionized environment and interpretation of collective agreements;

·         Must have very good verbal communications skills with solid writing skills and interpersonal skills;

·         Superior customer service experience;

·         Ability to draft policies and procedures;

·         Knowledge of the latest security and emergency techniques and technology;

·         Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite: Word, PowerPoint and Excel, Teams;

·         Good judgment, positive attitude and flexibility;

·         Must possess valid driver’s license, First Aid, CPR certificates;

·         Experience with security camera systems an asset;

·         A past record of satisfactory attendance and punctuality is a requirement. *
