Key activities:
The Food and Beverage Department of the National Arts Centre is currently seeking an energetic and highly motivated marketing professional to join our team. Reporting directly to the General Manager of the F&B department, the ‘F&B Marketing and Communications Officer’ is responsible for developing and implementing an overarching strategic marketing plan, with a focus on engaging with our public and foodies at large.

This integral and exciting role involves working collaboratively with colleagues within the F&B department, coordinating with the NAC’s other disciplines and departments, as well as external stakeholders.

The incumbent will coordinate marketing and communications strategies to support the Meetings & Events team, 1 Elgin Restaurant, Intermission Bars, and the kitchen in the promotion of their various offerings, including rental of NAC event spaces, special culinary events featuring our Resident Chefs, the restaurants special menus and Turkey Takeaway offering.

Responsibilities include photography and writing to support to communications for social media, email to NAC subscribers, press releases and advertisement. The incumbent will also monitor and maintain the online presence of the Meetings & Events team, as well as the restaurant, and execute advertising initiatives on social media through search engine marketing. They will also coordinate the design and production of print and physical promotional items.

The incumbent will monitor and report on the success of marketing initiatives to the general manager and F&B colleagues.
The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the Food & Beverage industry, will have exceptional writing skills, experience with photography, and possess exceptional organizational skills and the ability to coordinate a variety of projects, activities and events while meeting staggered deadlines.

Key Activities:
• Develop and implement marketing plans, special events, products and promotions;
• Endeavour to increase exposure of 1 Elgin and our catering spaces to grow revenues;
• Photograph menus, events, and event spaces to support promotional initiatives;
• Foster and grow relationships with new and existing patrons and partners through communications via social media, email marketing, search engine marketing and coordinating with traditional media;
• Participate as part of the NAC Marketing Team to collaborate and work in balance with them in establishing specific and overall strategies for marketing and business development;
• Participate in the development of marketing strategies and projects, ensure their executions, develop key performance metrics, monitor and analyse progress, and report on status as appropriate;
• Schedule, and manage workload to ensure timely and successful completion of milestones and overall projects;
• Develop, monitor and maintain marketing budgets as assigned.
• Work closely and collaboratively with the General Manager to develop special promotions and projects

Required qualifications:
• Fluently bilingual (spoken and written) in both official languages;
• Degree in Communications, Journalism, or Marketing with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Excellent interpersonal skills with superior planning and acute attention to detail;
• Demonstrates initiative and sound judgment;
• Advanced language communications skills, particularly, but not exclusively in a written capacity (both writing and editing);
• Experience in social media and its various platforms;
• Experience with photography;
• Strong knowledge of analytic tools such as Google Analytics and Facebook Insights;
• Marketing skills, including planning and execution of marketing campaigns, with a focus on digital tactics, monitoring and analyzing campaign results and developing content used to support the campaigns;
• Knowledge of the marketing/communications environment in the National Capital Region;
• Ability to prioritize with quick and efficient decision making and to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment as part of a very busy team;
• Knowledge of the culinary arts and industry would be an asset.
